HR Workplace, what success should look like!

Employers are about to see a surge in mental health problems and anxiety among teams. Research shows that we must look out for signs and catch it early. Anxiety cases in employment have exploded and can cause all types of costly problems and fear for staff. We must change our approach to peoples health if we are to have a productive workforce. We would like to share with you, our tips (at no extra cost to your business) to keep staff in a good place for their health, your business and its success.

You may consider allowing breaks to take place when needed by the team member, rather than a pre-determined schedule, be flexible and let team members change their working day to start earlier or finish at a time that suits your business and the team member.

Review, and keep an eye on your teams workload, think about changing duties they may struggle with, ask your team if they would like to make adjustments to their working environment if it helps relieve stress. Offer a reserved parking space to make it easier for the team members to get to work or as the Government has suggested offer home-work if it suits your business.

People will need some extra ‘personal work space’, think about asking managers to tone down demanding behaviour and encourage managers to show a little more empathy when talking and dealing with people struggling with anxiety and other emotions. If team-members need to visit a Doctor, think about extending additional paid or unpaid leave during a hospitalisation or other absence.

Give people a little more time to reach performance milestones and allow  them to make certain personal phone calls during the day if they need additional support and assistance. A great idea would be assigning a mentor or buddy to support and help the team member, with regular one-to-ones between the manager and team member to discuss and prioritise tasks.

The best thing we can do is encourage managers to be kind and look after your teams, its important that managers receive support as well. Remember, you are the leader of your business and it is your responsibility to keep yourself and every member of your team safe.

AND AT ALL TIMES, WASH HANDS, KEEP YOUR DISTANCE & WEAR A MASK IF YOU CAN

Things will get Better!

We can help by giving you support and advice for your teams through kindness, training, and open honest conversations. The challenge will now be to dig deep and show leadership, businesses will fail if you do not invest in your people, people are scared, families are leaving NI & UK due to Brexit.

Leaders now, will need to take notes, ask big questions and learn very very quickly.

There is no financial risk taking an opportunity to receive help, you have nothing to loose! Your business will only improve when you take chances. Employee performance Management

In order for things to get better, appraisals play a big part in your progress. Appraisals are designed to give constructive feedback and help staff understand how they are doing. These actions help employers understand issues or problems and provide the ground work for training solutions that help employees need to achieve the tasks that have been set.

This process takes place on average once or twice in the year, employees may have

an appraisal within a few months of taking up the post to ensure they are settling in and that their objectives are clear.

Performance Management is vital in any modern workforce, as poor performance can lower productivity and effectiveness. It can also cause resentment for those who may be preforming well and In some cases can even increase the risk of accidents.
